Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Development:

  • Work with the team to develop and launch new training programs in the construction and green jobs sectors, including both clean energy such as wind and solar, as well as energy efficiency and energy management, with a focus on buildings and facilities management. New programs to develop and launch include Offshore Wind Technician, Facilities Management, and union pre-apprenticeships. Other possibilities could include Carpentry, Masonry, Welding, or others.
  • Lead feasibility study and planning of clean energy social enterprise.
  • Take the lead in generating technical content for grant submissions.
  • Support the Associate Director of Energy Training and the programs they oversee.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders including the developers and sub-contractors of offshore wind power in the NY region; solar installation companies, manufacturers of building automation systems; building developers in the region; a wide variety of contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Develop an understanding of industry trends and identify training needs through analysis of both government and real-time labor market data in conjunction with industry surveys and reports as well as direct feedback from industry organizations and employers. Combine this intelligence with best practices in pedagogy and workforce development to design training programs that open up pathways into high-demand careers for low-income communities, communities of color and individuals with barriers to employment.

Program Management:

  • Work closely with leaders in YouthBuild and Build Up programming to ensure alignment to student learning, emotional and psychological needs.
  • Implement OSHA on-site safety plan.
  • Leads SEAT Works and the relationship with Anything But Bland.
  • Oversee implementation of training, including development of recruitment strategies, supervision of program staff and instructors, financial and grant management, partner management, inventory and training supply management, and maintenance of accreditation with industry bodies such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement of programs through the collection and analysis of key outcome metrics and course evaluations from students, observation of instructors, post-program surveys or focus groups with students and/or employers as needed, and annual program reviews for each program. Develop, implement, assess, and adjust strategies to ensure that program outcomes around enrollment, completion, learning, employment, entry into college, advancement, and student and employer satisfaction are met.
  • Oversight of Cleaning Tech Trainer and program goals and milestones associated with grants.

Personnel Management:

  • Supervises and mentors team members.
  • Responsible for time & attendance of team members and addressing any personnel issues that may arise.
  • Ensure team compliance and documentation of all federal, state, and contract requirements.
  • Hold regular team and individual supervision meetings.
  • Provide team members with a weekly schedule and deliverables.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance systems to hold team members accountable.
  • Complete annual performance reviews.

Facilities:

  • Facilities management of SEAT Properties and maintenance requests.  This includes repairs, routine maintenance, emergencies, snow removal, and trash pickup.
  • Oversight of Corporate vehicles including purchasing, maintenance, mileage records and registration/insurance being up to date.

Desired Outcomes from areas of responsibilities

  • Effective end efficient oversight of SEAT Center sites as it relates to facilities management and high performance of the buildings for the staff as dictated by building standards and COVID 19 CDC guidelines.
  • Ensure the timely completion of construction program project based on grant requirements
  • Maintain a minimum 95% student attainment of industry recognized and maintain adequate records to support the certifications and programs being presented and students success/status rate through their SEAT experience.
  • Director coaches and ensures that staff is trained, and able to perform their positions adequate to assist in the mission of SEAT and participating to meet and or exceed the SEAT brand/culture. This includes working with staff on performance development plans, appraisals, and any necessary approved training for staff.

Community Relations

  1. Stay current on employment trends in the construction industry, and local projects.
  2. Be able to speak on behalf of SEAT Center and related programs and assist in development of partnerships with local businesses, trade unions and schools

Managerial

  • Complete program and performance development goals which includes training, 1:1 meetings with supervisor to move toward key work goals.
  • Complete program and performance development goals which includes 1:1 meetings with direct reports which includes monthly coaching, updates and training/support that lends to their annual appraisal.
  • Manage weekly time sheets in accordance with procedures for payroll and time off policies
  • Support employee engagement programs within the organization that enrich the culture of SEAT and provide direct report with rewarding participation.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Credentials in Clean Energy preferred.
  2. Degree in Building Construction or Construction Management or Construction Technology preferred.
  3. Follow through with problem solving and critical thinking, leadership and organizational skills on all tasks and projects.
  4. Deadline driven and ability to work very independently and have an eye for detail.
  5. Ability to set schedules, maintain budgets, exercise time management skills essential to success of direct reports.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills are a must for someone working with direct reports, vendors, peers and students to the leadership team and community partners.
  7. Ability to explain building performance and project objectives in lay terms to potential customers.
  8. Minimum of 8 years residential energy efficiency experience.
  9. Experience working with opportunity programs and or similar populations is preferred.
