Serving the community since 1968

SEAT Center connects young people to meaningful work through our array of programs and services.

Home Furnishings is a SEAT Center service that provides donated goods, free of charge, to community members in the city of Schenectady. Home furnishings was acquired by SEAT Center in 2020, and is reemerging as a hub of support for families and individuals in transition from emergency situations such as:

  • fire
  • rehab
  • domestic violence
  • joblessness
  • hospital or nursing home discharge
  • abandonment
  • homelessness
  • disability
  • mental illness

Student involvement

How are SEAT Center program students involved?

SEAT Center students are individually committed to providing 450 hrs of service to their community which includes operating Home Furnishings. Through providing this service, students earn AmeriCorps Education Awards to use towards college or advanced training.
